Victor Glover (1976 – )

Victor Glover served as Pilot of Artemis II, playing a critical role in navigating the Orion spacecraft during its 10‑day journey around the Moon. A NASA astronaut and U.S. Navy captain, Victor previously made history on SpaceX Crew‑1 as the first Black astronaut to live aboard the International Space Station for a long‑duration mission, bringing extensive flight and operational expertise to Artemis II.

Born in Pomona, California, Victor is widely admired for blending technical excellence with deep reflection. Throughout his career, he has emphasised that space exploration is not about individual achievements, but about shared human progress. That philosophy was powerfully expressed during Artemis II, as the crew looked back at Earth from deep space and shared messages with people around the world.

One of the most memorable moments of the mission came when Victor spoke about perspective, unity and gratitude while flying beyond the far side of the Moon. His words echoed a message first shared during Apollo 8 — updated for a new generation:

“From up here, you look like one thing…Homo sapiens. We’ve got to get through this together.”
