Embrace the Summer Holidays with Water Rokit!

The Summer Holidays are always a good excuse to get outdoors and have lots of fun! Have you launched a Water Rokit yet this Summer?

This year’s Summer Newsletter is full of lots of interesting information and things that have been keeping us very busy over the last few months to inspire you to take off for a brilliant way to enjoy the outdoors with friends & family, wherever you are!

Water Rokit at Barrs Court Primary School

Back in June, Charlotte Harverson took a trip to Barrs Court Primary School in Bristol (a Wastebuster competition winner) to give them their very own Water Rokit Junior Rocketeer Activity Day. The children had the time of their lives and were super excited to become a Junior Rocketeer by the end of the day! Read all about Charlotte’s visit.

The National Physics Laboratory Annual Water Rocket Challenge

Did you know that the NPL run a Water Rocket challenge in Teddington every year? This year, on 21^st June, was the 24^th challenge, and we met up with STEM the Violence at the event, who were entering their first ever team. Learn more about the background and excitement of this annual event.

Water Rokit at the East Kent Science Jamboree

Another busy day for us in June was the East Kent Science Jamboree in Sandwich. With its first return post-lockdown, over 750 school children attended this incredible event. For Water Rokit’s attendance, we provided lots of thrilling 20-minute educational sessions to different classes from different schools, diving headfirst into the exhilarating highlights of every STEM subject, and of course launching a Water Rokit! Water Rokits aren’t just for kids

One of our customers created a Team Building event using Water Rokits for Mental Health Awareness week, and it really took off! A Water Rokit Team Building event offers an unusual way to foster teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills – and it’s really fun! No more plastic bottles

We took the decision to remove plastic bottles from our Water Rokit kits to promote the reuse and upcycling of household plastic. Addressing environmental education and inspiring children to make a positive impact on the planet is an extremely important core value to us as a business. Why add to the detrimental effect of global plastic shipping when we can teach and inspire children to reuse and upcycle their waste, especially when there are already so many plastic bottles lying around polluting the planet? Barracudas Skills Builder Courses

Our partnership with Barracudas Activity Day Camps has created the new Rocketeers course. With 5 progressive sessions throughout the week-long course, children will learn about the same principles that NASA and SpaceX use when they launch their space rockets – and they’ll of course have lots of fun launching Water Rokits! Water Rokit Activity Day

What if your children could become a Junior Rocketeer through their very own Water Rokit Activity Day? Sounds exciting, right? With the launch of our Education Portal, you can either run your own Activity Day using our downloadable resources, or book a session with our own Rocketeer, Charlotte Harverson. Whichever route you choose, your children will learn about the fundamentals of rocketry, the physics behind how rockets fly, and what their Water Rokit has in common with NASA’s and SpaceX’s rockets, as well as conduct some exciting experiments with Water Rokits. Did you know we have limited edition official NASA-themed Water Rokits? With a variety of NASA themes to choose from, each one comes with its own NASA stickers, allowing you to personalise your Water Rokit to stand out from the crowd. Considering all the remarkable achievements NASA has made in Space, who wouldn’t want their own NASA Water Rokit?!

Playing outside is great for kids’ mental health

It’s been proven that getting outside to play is good for children’s mental health, whatever age they are – even adults too! This article talks about the evidence that shows why children need outdoor learning. Flying a Water Rokit is one great way of achieving this and gives you an extra boost of feel-good too!

Water Rokits have been sold worldwide for 40 years

Invented in 1983 by Roger Wilkins, 40 years later, Water Rokit is still a family business producing Water Rokits in the UK. To celebrate our 40^th anniversary this year, we partnered with Spaceport Cornwall for Launch 40, a NASA-style rocket launch video starring children from Germoe School in Penzance. Check it out!
