It was a very dark, rainy evening on Thursday 3rd Nov 2022, but as I approached Truro, suddenly the rain cleared, and chinks of bright blue sky lit up Truro College. Without doubt, the place to be in Cornwall yesterday.

Heidi Thiemann, Project Manager at Truro & Penwith College, and her talented team hosted a visionary event to inspire and show our next generation of bright young women just how many innovative opportunities there are in Cornwall and the UK in the upcoming and exciting fields of Aerospace & Space.

From Virtual Reality to Chocolate Satellites, from combining opportunities in Law and Space Technology, these young women were envisioning their future paths on the spot. I was so lucky to be a part of this energising event and was able to show our action-packed STEM learning tool, the Water Rokit.

We are developing a comprehensive education platform via this website to inspire the next generation of Rocketeers aimed to support schools, clubs and children interested in STEM. I spoke to many young women last night who already have firm plans to progress careers in Engineering, Science and Tech. The upcoming launch of Virgin’s Rocket from Space Port Cornwall, and with the development of their aerospace department, this cosmic shift has firmly transported Cornwall into the NOW and the FUTURE. I feel so proud to live in the Duchy of Cornwall.
