Why is Water Rokit the best water rocket? Let’s ask a real-life rocket scientist!
Back in 2022, I was lucky enough to meet Dr Simon Foster, a real-life Rocket Scientist! Simon is a Space Scientist and Public Engagement and Outreach specialist based in the Faculty of Natural Sciences and the Department of Physics at Imperial College London.
We were introduced to Simon by a charity called STEM The Violence who use STEM interests, experiments, and outdoor activities to engage with young people in challenging circumstances to help them make better choices.
Simon is so passionate about inspiring and educating the next generation of scientists so was happy to talk with us about why he thinks Water Rokit is not only the best water rocket, but also the best educational STEM tool on the market.
Listen to Simon’s own words in the video below why our Water Rokit is so loved and so good. It makes perfect sense when you hear him talk about it.
Being new to the Water Rokit business, whilst I could tell it was a special product, and quite breath-taking when it launches, I had no real idea how much of a well-loved STEM product it was, not just here in the UK, but worldwide. As a side note, what was a little more surprising was how much Hertford (where our HQ is) brings the rocket world together!
Having made contact with Simon, I also discovered him plugging our Water Rokit in an online activity session with the Royal Astronomical Society. We then had a phone call where I learnt some more about how much he loved and used our product – as he calls it, “the best STEM educational tool on the market”. And we hadn’t paid him a penny! Turns out this happens quite a lot – if you meet anyone in the Science world, or indeed any world, if they have used the Water Rokit once, it’s unlikely they would ever look for another, and they love it!
Using the Water Rokit, as Simon says, helps explain Newton’s 3rd law – and it’s pretty simple to demonstrate.
The Water Rokit team joined Dr Foster and Fernando, from STEM The Violence, one day in summer 2023, at a holiday camp in London. The children were very over-excited and we had quite a small launch area, (did I mention how HIGH the Water Rokit goes?) One of the launches managed to defy all the odds and land in a place you could never imagine – one in ten billion chance! Luckily we managed to get it back!
Meeting with passionate scientists who value our product and get so animated when talking about and demonstrating it, is really exciting for us all at Water Rokit. The boss’ Dad invented this 41 years ago – we know there are generations of more kids who will learn from it and some of them might take their Science to the next level! Wouldn’t it be amazing to see a Water Rokit on the Moon?
We love to say – you will always remember the day you flew your first Water Rokit!
