Autopilot is a system or device that controls a vehicle’s flight at a pre-set course and altitude. An autopilot is a system used to control the path of an aircraft, marine craft or spacecraft without requiring constant manual control by a human operator. Autopilots do not replace human operators.
In terms of rockets, simple ballistic rockets don’t, have autopilot, but guided missiles do. Dragon/Space X is entirely autonomously controlled. The Space Shuttle had an autoland capability which only required the pilot to put the landing gear down manually.
